CYSA's 48th Annual Meeting
November 12, 2020
A Discussion of Anti Racism for Youth Workers: Hope and Social Change

On November 12th 2020, the Connecticut Youth Services Association held it's 48th Annual Meeting virtually. The conference this year was titled "A Discussion of Anti-Racism for Youth Workers: Hope and Social Change" and included a keynote from Dr. Martha C. Brackeen-Harris entitled "A Walk Through Her Story". An additional presentation was made by SERC's Ingrid M. Canady, "YSBs and Anti-Racism" which foreshadowed CYSA's partnership with SERC and it's commitment to becoming an anti-racist membership organization.

The theme of the day was inspired from the CYSA's statement on anti-racism released back in June of 2020 which can be found at https://www.ctyouthservices.org/cysan.... The Annual Meeting also included an awards portion and the election of board members and leadership. Special thank you to both our speakers for their grace and optimism, Greg Glidden of SERC for his technical support, Travis Carbonella for volunteering to put together the video reading of the statement (in less than 24 hours) and the four Middletown youth for volunteering to lend their voice to it, and of course the CYSA Professional Development Subcommittee for their countless hours of effort to put this all together so wonderfully.
