Youth & Family Worker

Part-Time, Non-benefited

$20.00 hourly

An average of 12-15 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer.

 

Non-benefited vacancy in the Department of Social & Youth Services. Flexible schedule including after-school afternoon, evening and weekend hours.  Implement and assist with planning and coordination of individual and group services for Bloomfield children, youth and families. Participate in team focused and strengths based delivery of programs and services that support positive involvement in the community, promote personal character and life skills development, and provide opportunities to enhance social skills and interpersonal relationships.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of six years experience or Bachelors degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field desirable with two years’ experience working with children and families in a community based setting. Volunteer hours in direct service to children/families in a community setting considered. Experience in collaboration and advocacy with other youth and family serving agencies and providers. Experience with adventure based activities, teambuilding initiatives and leadership training is desirable. Experience in working with diverse populations. Understanding of child and adolescent development and life stresses impacting children, adolescents and families. Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Google Suite, Zoom, and other technology tools. Knowledge and experience with social media platforms. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a Basic First Aid and CPR certifications.

Selection Process

All appointments shall be made according to merit and fitness for performing the functions of the position, including factors such as education, experience, aptitude, knowledge, character, ethics, or other qualifications that would determine the best candidate for the position.  Examinations may include written, oral, physical, or performance tests or any combination of the various types of examinations.  Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results on a background check, verification of information on the employment application, pre-employment physical, drug testing, DCF background, state and federal criminal history and background investigation, including fingerprints.
