PT Parent Educator - Parent & Child Program
Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services

Summary: Interviews Bristol parents and families of newborns to age 5 to assess basic needs, financials, social and emotional levels; and connects to available resources. Facilitates nutrition and parent development education, play groups and other mental and physical health groups. Manages the Caring Closet for distribution of diapers, wipes, baby food and other baby items. Provides advocacy and follow up as needed.

Education/Experience/License: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree and two years practical experience in counseling, group work/group facilitation and case management. Must be familiar with DCF mandates and community resources. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and ability to maintain effective working relationships required. Requires Connecticut Driver License.

Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of database and internet software; intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet software; and intermediate knowledge of word processing software.

Work Schedule: Temporary, part-time, non-benefited position through June 30, 2021. (Position may transition to grant funded status as of July 1, 2021; and continue to be staffed while grant is in place.) Program runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the program.

Wages: $18.00/hour.
