Office Manager—Prevention Program Coordinator

 

Primary Function:  Manage the Haddam-Killingworth Community Coalition (HKCC) and support specific projects related to mental health promotion and the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and prescription drug misuse.

Job Responsibilities of the Prevention Coordinator

  • Working with the HKCC Co-chairs, coalition members, RSD17, and Executive Director, formulate goals, objectives, and programs
  • Implement evidence-based community level programs and strategies, targeted campaigns.
  • Develop training and educational materials and provide presentations to the Coalition and community.
  • Develop a social media and public relations strategy for the Coalition.
  • Collaborate with town and school leaders, youth groups, community organizations, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with youth, parents, and community.
  • organize and implement community wide trainings, parent forums, and media strategies to increase parental awareness of the dangers of underage youth substance use
  • Meet reporting requirements of the grant program.
  • Represent the Coalition in the community and at local and state prevention meetings.

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in public health, social work, or related field or a minimum of four years of experience in work related to mental health promotion and/or youth substance abuse prevention.
  • Two (2) years of work related to mental health promotion and/or youth substance abuse prevention.
  • A strong knowledge base in substance abuse prevention. Prevention Specialist Certification preferred or willing to complete requirements for certification during employment.
  • Knowledge of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and related experience with program planning and evaluation, implementation, prevention work, data analysis, and community organizing
  • Capabilities in project management, including establishing goals, timelines, budgeting, monitoring progress and deliverables, and reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • CT Drivers License
