Examples of Duties
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
1. Conducts family and individual adolescent assessments.
2. Performs individual, group and family counseling.
3. Coordinates with school, state and court personnel to advocate for clients’ needs.
4. Prepares monthly and quarterly agency reports.
5. Maintains confidential client files according to state and agency policies.
6. Responds to emergency client calls and has on-call emergency responsibilities.
7. Attends training sessions as required.
8. Plans and implements community education programs.
9. Attends youth program coordinating meetings with regional, local or state groups. 
10. Attends and participates in community prevention committees and projects
11. Conducts acute/crisis mental health assessments and referrals
12. Provide Clinical Supervision to Graduate Student Interns
13. Evening hours commitment a minimum of 2/week
14. Performs other related duties.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the direction of the Director of nursing or designee.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
1. Solid knowledge of family and individual counseling theories.
2. Ability to design interventions in family systems.
3. Ability to write and implement treatment plans.
4. Clear and concise oral and written skills.
5. Group counseling skills.
6. Ability to develop educational and therapeutic group programs for at-risk adolescents and their families.
7. Must have valid CT driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
1. Masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work or other license-eligible mental health clinical field.2. Completion of a two-year family therapy training program with two years of experience in family counseling with at-risk youth 9-18 and their families.3. Certified Family Therapists or Certified Independent Social Workers preferred.4. AAMFT approved supervisor or supervision program eligible preferred.5. Unencumbered & active State of CT Mental Health Practitioner License (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LADC will be considered).Supplemental InformationGENERAL INFORMATION ON THIS EXAMINATION

Each candidate must have the required experience and training to be eligible for this position which includes: a Masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work or other license-eligible mental health clinical field, completion of a two-year family therapy training program with two years of experience in family counseling with at-risk youth 9-18 and their families, Certified Family Therapists or Certified Independent Social Workers preferred, AAMFT approved supervisor or supervision program eligible preferred, Unencumbered & active State of CT Mental Health Practitioner License (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LADC will be considered).

Before final certification, each applicant must successfully pass a drug test.

This examination will be conducted for the Town of Trumbull by the Trumbull Civil Service Board within the authority of Section 7-413 of the 1959 revision of the State of CT. This is a MATE Union position, includes 2 weeks' vacation, 2 personal days, and sick time accrual upon hire in accordance with Union contract.
