Waterbury Youth Service System Celebrates Local Leaders and Youth

Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. (WYSS) is a non-profit agency dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth in the Greater Waterbury Region. Our method is simple. Give our youth the tools they need to succeed; safety, belief in themselves, hope, encouragement, caring and opportunities. They can and do become productive citizens.

Recently, Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. was recognized by Governor Dannel Malloy and the Governor’s Prevention Partnership as a partner committed to Connecticut’s youth. It is through such shared action and collaborative nature that we as an organization aim to empower our youth and their families within our community. Waterbury Youth Service System, Inc. is proud to announce Dominique Hardy our Youth recognized as the celebration of 2012 Leadership Partners at the Governor’s residence.

WYSS would like to congratulate the 2013 Excellence in Youth Award Recipients. Every year Middle and High School students are nominated for this award based upon outstanding characteristics. Youth are nominated in one of the following categories, Character Categories: Citizenship, Community Service, Good Samaritan, Initiative or Leadership. WYSS is honored to host the awards ceremony, at which time students are presented with plaques and their individual nomination letters are read. This event is made possible by The American Savings Foundation, who graciously provides funding for the ceremony to take place.  In addition to presenting 20 students with Excellence in Youth Awards WYSS presented the 2013 Jaci Carroll Visionary Award, recognizing Kathy Luria for her commitment to the betterment of our community’s youth and their families. An exemplary individual whose dedication and outstanding character has made a significant impact within our community, Kathy serves as the Vice President of Community Affairs at Webster Bank in Waterbury. Devoted of a brighter future, Kathy has pursued both sustainable and positive development within our community.
