Please join us for the next CYSA Professional Development Quarterly Training to care for and nurture our frontline essential workers who are caring for our youth and families in each of our communities throughout the pandemic.
We are fortunate to have Mary Kay O’Sullivan as our guest speaker along with our very own Tressa Giordano, Executive Director of AHM Youth Services, to discuss self-care, resilience and bringing hope to our clients.
In the course of doing our work we are often confronted by the more challenging aspects of life. We are asked to ‘do more with less’, and to work within uncertain funding and restrictive policy contexts. Working with young people and their families going through tough times and with colleagues, who may also be stressed, can test our patience and push us to our limits.Practicing self-care is an important professional development activity that will help you to cognitively, physically and emotionally ‘bounce back’ each day over the long term.

Agenda:
9:00 to 9:15 a.m. Opening Activity with Tressa Giordano (self-care reflection activity)
Segment #1: Sometimes brining our thoughts and feelings to paper in a mindful way can bring clarity, motivation, and empowerment. Join us as we take a few moments to creatively reflect upon what sparks hope in our lives. All you’ll need is a piece of paper and pen or some colored pencils/ markers if you’re feeling inspired to add color.

9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Mary Kay O’Sullivan presents on topic: Self Care, EQ, re-charging battery to do our work, Big 7, compassion fatigue, re-energizing our frontline workers assisting in the pandemic.

10:30-10:45 Q&A

10:45-11 Closing with Tressa Giordano (physical activity)
Segment #2: Taking a few moments throughout your day to stretch and breath can relieve stress, improve posture and clear your mind so you can more effectively tackle your work. With the increased volume of online meetings and screen time, taking a few moments to refresh can easily be done right at your desk. Join in for some quick and easy chair stretches and breathing exercises that will provide you with the release you need in order for you to continue the great work you do!
