Part Time 

AHM Youth & Family Services is seeking an experienced professional to lead the prevention and intervention efforts for a four-town coalition, and to oversee the region’s juvenile review board and Project Graduation Committee. The Prevention Coordinator will seek innovative ways to promote prevention and intervention throughout the region’s schools while working with town and school leaders. 

Schedule:       20 – 22 Hours Per Week 

Pay Rate:       $30.00 per Hour 

Benefits:         Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays

 Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead the Coalition for a Healthy Empowered Community (CHEC) to conduct outreach activities and maintain a presence at school and community events.
  • Coordinate with RHAM School advisors for the organization and execution of the SOAR Youth Group.
  • Coordinate the annual RHAM High School Project Graduation event by leading committee members in planning, advertising, and attending the overnight event.
  • Maintain statistics, collect needs assessment data, and produce reports on survey results.
  • Coordinate grant applications; write reports and carry out action plans.
  • Maintain social media accounts for the CHEC Coalition and SOAR youth group.  Create advertisements and media campaigns focused on prevention.
  • Collaborate with AHM’s YouthRecoveryCT/SMART Recovery program. Support and work together on events, collaborate and serve as a referral source to the SMART group.
  • Coordinate the juvenile review board (JRB) by conducting initial interviews with youth and families, managing JRB cases, and presenting cases to the board.
  • Serve as the liaison to police, schools, court, and other JRB partners.
  • Research new community service and diversion opportunities for JRB involved youth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in the field of substance abuse prevention, public health, or social work, plus two years of experience in prevention or human services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups of youth, parents, and community.
  • Experience in juvenile justice and restorative practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) preferred.
